Program description
The Mechanical Technician program prepares students for careers as Mechanical Technicians or Industrial Mechanics (Millwright). Mechanical technician diploma from Ontario College.
Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) tasks include:
- Follow blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
- Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment using hand and power tools.
- Hoist and lift machines and parts during installation, setup, and repair.
- Inspect and investigate equipment abnormalities and malfunctions.
- Maintain transmission, vacuum, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Adjust and fix machines.
- Operate machine tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders to create machine parts.
- Clean and maintain machines.

Admission requirements
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent
- Grade 12 English at the C or U level
- Grade 11 Math at the C, U or M level
English Proficiency requirements are:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS)-Academic - Overall 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 (SDS requires an overall 6.0, with no band less than 6.0)
- TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT) or Home Edition - 78
