Program description
This two-year (four semester) program prepares students for careers in healthcare and social services by providing specific training in addictions and mental health. The Mental Wellness and Addictions Worker is trained to engage and support people who are struggling with addictions and/or mental health issues. Graduates will have the information, skills, tools, and abilities needed by frontline practitioners to provide responsive and effective care.
Graduates will gain an understanding of the complex needs of diverse client populations; establish and broaden their skill set; nurture and broaden their critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities; recognize, understand, and apply a holistic model of client-centered care; and, finally, demonstrate learned theoretical concepts with our community stakeholders during their field placement.
