Program description
Programme Objectives
The curriculum aims to provide graduates with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in food science and safety, such as food chemistry, nutritional science, food microbiology, food sensory and assessment, food toxicology, quality control, and food safety management. A wide range of these courses are meant to help students develop the skills they need to operate efficiently in the food, nutrition, and catering sectors, as well as to address technical problems in the field of food science and safety. It will also equip students with generic management skills and work-integrated learning opportunities in local or international food and allied businesses, therefore increasing their employability in a competitive environment.

The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) was founded in 2012 and is a Vocational Training Council (VTC) member institute. THEi provides over 20 professional "Applied Science-Oriented" degree programs in seven academic areas: Product and Fashion Design, Sports and International Event Management, Digital Construction and Building Services, Horticulture, Arboriculture and Landscape Management, Chinese Medicine and Food Science, Hotel Management and Culinary Arts and Technology, and Digital Technology and Innovative Business. These courses focus on industries with strong development potential in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region. The programs combine practical applications and academic knowledge to guarantee that students can successfully apply what they have learnt.
THEi degree courses are approved by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, as well as the relevant professional associations when applicable.
