Program description
Programme Objectives
In response to the government's effort on climate action planning, environmental protection, waste management, and smart city development, the program was designed to generate professionals who are well-versed in green technologies, sustainability, and information technology capabilities. It seeks to provide students with professional knowledge and skills that will enable them to pursue jobs and take on leadership roles in the environmental business. The curriculum provides a comprehensive variety of professional expertise in emerging environmental technology, nature conservation, smart environmental monitoring, carbon auditing, machine learning for environmental applications, and renewable energy systems. The 720 hours of credit-bearing work-integrated learning, along with a general education curriculum designed to prepare students for careers, enriches the learning experience even more.
Career Prospects
Graduates may secure positions as assistant environmental engineers or consultants, graduate trainees, carbon auditors, assistant sustainability officers, assistant ESG officers, environmental data scientists or analysts, project managers in governmental agencies (such as the Environmental Protection Department), technology development associates in public and private utilities (including railway, electric, and gas companies), project managers in consultancies, and facility managers in facilities and building management firms, waste treatment and recycling service providers, non-governmental organizations, and private corporations.

About the university
The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) was founded in 2012 and is a Vocational Training Council (VTC) member institute. THEi provides over 20 professional "Applied Science-Oriented" degree programs in seven academic areas: Product and Fashion Design, Sports and International Event Management, Digital Construction and Building Services, Horticulture, Arboriculture and Landscape Management, Chinese Medicine and Food Science, Hotel Management and Culinary Arts and Technology, and Digital Technology and Innovative Business.
