Program description

Programme Objectives

The program covers the core surveying areas of construction technology, real estate and development management, land and construction law, and real estate economics and investment, which support professional roles and tasks during the planning, development, construction, and occupancy phases of the building life cycle. It also focuses on general education and work-integrated learning. Graduates of this curriculum will be professionally competent and able to contribute to social and global challenges.

Career Prospects

1. Quantity surveyors include the Architectural Services Department, Highways Department, Housing Department, Urban Renewal Authority, professional QS consultant businesses, developers, construction and civil engineering contractors, insurance companies, and so on.

2. Property and facility management surveyors include those from the Government Property Agency, developers, in-house service departments, property consultants, FM and property management firms, asset and property management organizations, and so on.

3. Building surveyors include the Buildings Department, Housing Department, Architectural Services Department, Hong Kong Housing Society, Urban Renewal Authority, developers, local and foreign property consultants, estates and technical departments of institutions and enterprises, and so on.

4. General practice surveyors include those working for the Lands Department, the Rating and Valuation Department, the Housing Department, the Government Property Agency, property and valuation consultancies, and developers.

5. Planning and development surveyors include the Planning Department, town planning and development consultants, and developers, among others.

About the university

The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) was founded in 2012 and is a Vocational Training Council (VTC) member institute.
