Program description

The study of communication studies looks at how we create, express, and evaluate communications in our private, professional, and public spheres. To handle message processes within and among individuals, groups, organizations, and communities, Communication Studies majors develop social intelligence, critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. Students study business and organizational communication, health communication, argumentation and persuasion, rhetoric and criticism, and verbal and nonverbal communication in relationships. Alumni thrive as powerful leaders, problem-solving team players, highly skilled researchers, gifted authors, and captivating presenters in a variety of cultural, professional, social, and private contexts. Concentrations for the undergraduate degree are available in:

  • ACT and SAT scores are not required for applicants ranked in the top 75% of their graduating class

  • resume/CV detailing work experience, extracurricular and community activities, and honors and achievements

English language requirements

  • TOEFL iBT scores required with a 78 overall and minimum individual module scores of 19 listening, 19 reading, 19 speaking, 18 writing
  • official PTE scores required with a 52 overall
  • official IELTS (academic) scores required with a 6.5 overall and minimum individual module scores of 6.0
  • official Duolingo scores with a 110 overall
