Program description
Our reality is shaped by the past. It decides the constraints and possibilities of our individual and societal aspirations. History is a dynamic subject based on analysis, interpretation, and debate, rather than black and white facts. You'll gain a cultural vocabulary by studying our records, which investigate humanity through events, recorded perceptions, and cultural context.
History is a continuous consideration that can be called upon for insight into how we got here and how we will develop in the future. It spans all cultures, environments, and periods. Look back with a beacon of yesterday's knowledge to look forward with for tomorrow's biggest concepts.
You will gain the ability to confidently organize and categorize vast amounts of data.
Examine the historical experiences of Indigenous peoples in the territory that is now Canada. Examine the cultural history of North America through the lens of criminality and the law. You will examine the history of the United States from the Civil War to the present, with an emphasis on the major forces influencing the emergence of a distinctive social and political culture.
Learn about immigration and ethnicity, war and society, the history of the environment, religion, sexuality, Aboriginal history, state formation, and popular culture. In addition, you will investigate the practice of history and the history of history: How the study of history has evolved throughout time. Why do historians perform their duties? What purpose does history serve? How do we use historical evidence?
