Program description

A rigorous programme that prepares students to perform critical roles in the financial industry. Students acquire a thorough understanding of investments and managerial finance. Many graduates pursue career certifications such as chartered financial analyst or certified financial planner.

The occupation is divided into two major categories. Investments manage the economy's savings by transferring them to individuals and companies in need of capital in exchange for a reasonable return. Managerial finance is the industry's other half. Professionals in this field arrange for the necessary financing for an organization's day-to-day activities and future growth.

Following graduation, a rising number of students pursue professional certifications like the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP), as well as one of the many financial training courses provided by the Canadian Securities Institute. Those with strong quantitative skills who are interested in senior management positions or careers in teaching and research at the college or university level may also want to consider pursuing a graduate degree.
