Program description
Direct the scene and create an effective voice from script to stage, reaching your audience and beyond.
Coordination of technical theatre components such as lighting, music, costumes, props, and sets requires creativity. Learn and practise the position of director in a formal rehearsal setting in this progressive programme.
For over 25 years, we've provided a complete variety of university-level theatre arts courses that combine imagination, creativity, collaboration, and discipline. Develop your production, design, and acting abilities by performing comedies, tragedies, serious scripts, and humorous monologues.
You have a wide variety of choices related to both the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees when you take acting, theatrical history, and professional theatre classes from first to fourth year levels. Additionally, you can earn credit by taking part in and giving performances in a number of significant, top-notch shows that our department stages each year.
Program structure
A minimum of 24 credits (eight courses) in first and second year including:
- Intro to Theatre I & II, the past and practice of
- Intro to Acting I & II, fundamental performance
- Intro to Technical Theatre I & II, backstage practice
- Acting & Character Portrayal I & II, intermediate performance
And at least 30 credits (10 courses) in third and fourth year with six credits at 4000 level.

- Tuition — 8,861 CAD/semester (up to 12 credits)
- Application Fees — 100 CAD (one time, non-refundable)
- General Fees — 553 CAD (per semester for 12 credits)
- Health Fees — 75 CAD (per month)
- TRUSU Extended Heath & Dental Plan — 248 CAD (per year)
Requirements for applicants
- Grade 12 (or equivalent) or mature student status
- English Studies 12/English First Peoples 12 with a minimum of 73% (or equivalent)
