Program description

A Graduate Certificate of Education in Autistic teaches you how to design effective learning environments for people on the autism spectrum. It provides you with a thorough understanding of the strengths and challenges that persons with autism confront in school, as well as how to effectively respond to them. You will graduate better prepared to teach autistic children and create inclusive learning settings.

Using a 'person first' approach, you will get a better knowledge of autism while also developing and applying positive support skills to effectively engage students in a variety of educational settings. You will learn how to establish supportive learning settings in order to transition from traditional autistic ideas to contemporary practise and authentic inclusive education. Because this is not an official Australian Initial Teacher Education course, the student is not qualified to teach in Australia.
