Program description

The Doctor of Philosophy is a highly recognised research degree that requires you to undertake independent study while being supervised and guided by experts in your field. The Doctor of Philosophy degree involves the completion of a thesis that displays original thought and academic rigour while also contributing significantly to current knowledge. Requirements for applicants

Admission Criteria

Applicants with formal study:

Successful completion of a Masters degree by research from an Australian university or equivalent with a Distinction average
Successful completion of a Masters degree by coursework with a substantial element of research work from an Australian university or equivalent with a Distinction average
Successful first- or second class Honours degree from an Australian university or equivalent

Applicants with work and life experience

Applicants not meeting the direct entry requirements may be considered for admission if the Higher Degree by Research Committee is satisfied that the applicant has significant scholarship or professional attainment
Applicants may also be considered for admission to the Master of Philosophy (MPhil), Graduate Diploma of Research Studies(GDRS) or Graduate Certificate of Research Studies (GCRS).

English Language Proficiency

Equivalent IELTS 7.0 (Academic) with skills band no less than 7.0 in writing and speaking and no less than 6.5 in listening and reading (or equivalent TOEFL, CAE or PTE).
