Program description
The Professional Doctorate (Research) incorporates research training into coursework and reflective practise, resulting in new discipline knowledge through research.
Graduates at this level must have a systematic and critical comprehension of a complicated topic of study, as well as specialised research skills to advance new knowledge. Graduates will also have a holistic and critical comprehension of a large and complex body of knowledge on the cutting edge of a discipline.
Students will work with industry, government, and community partners to develop innovative solutions that benefit business and the community on a local, national, and global scale, and they will be prepared for career growth and transition in a variety of industry sectors.
This course is designed for students with prior work experience to ensure a good awareness of workplace mechanics and the capacity to examine workplace problems at an advanced level. It is intended for students who show a propensity for work-based research outcomes.

Requirements for applicants
Admission Criteria
Applicants with formal study:

Successful completion of Masters degree or above from an Australian university or overseas equivalent and
- Seven years’ practice at an advanced level in a position of responsibility or five years practice at an executive level and currently in a position of influence in the chosen profession, or
- An extensive track record of executive achievement in the workplace or in professional practice
Applicants with work and life experience:
- Students without an Master's degree may pathway to the Professional Doctorate (Research) with RPL based on
- Seven years' practice at an advanced level in a position of responsibility or five years practice at an executive level and currently in a position of influence in the chosen profession, or
- An extensive track record of executive achievement in the workplace or in professional practice
- A discipline-specific portfolio based on competency-based learning and non-formal learning
English Language Proficiency
- Equivalent IELTS 6.5 (Academic) with skills band no less than 6.0 (or equivalent TOEFL, CAE or PTE).
