Program description

Our BA (Hons) Art History program at UCA Canterbury provides you with the information, skills, and connections necessary to succeed in your chosen professional path in the art world, whether it be in art history or the art industry.

This course is offered in conjunction with our BA (Hons) Fine Art degree and is designed to help students get a comprehensive understanding of art via study of its history, various practices, and various contexts.

You'll have the opportunity to learn from art history experts, but you'll also be able to connect with a diverse group of aspiring artists, participate in workshops where you can hone your craft and hear from prominent figures in the field of contemporary art.

The program is structured to give students a solid grounding in the fundamentals of art theory and the analytical abilities necessary for comprehending and making sense of art history, current artworks, and the inner workings of the art world on a local, national, and international scale. You will delve into the various art forms, techniques, and movements, as well as the elements that influence creative growth and presentation.

And to help you get ready for your future job, you'll get hands-on experience with real-world projects like exhibitions and presentations; form meaningful relationships with professionals in the museum and cultural sector; and hone the marketing and networking skills that are so crucial to success in these fields.
