Program description
Part of the narrative of our new BA (Hons) Body Art degree course at UCA Canterbury is the progression of body art, from its ancient origins to its contemporary forms.
To highlight the medium's and phenomenon's creative and societal relevance, you will conduct an in-depth analysis of body art's many facets, including its history, culture, and practical aspects.
Traditional tattooing methods and body alterations, queer culture and individuality, the future of body art, and the rising discourse on transhumanism are just a few of the themes you'll cover.
Training in contemporary tools and techniques, as well as strategies for research and analysis in the field, will complement your theoretical studies and provide you with practical approaches. By taking advantage of several chances for professional development, you will also be laying the groundwork for your future career. The creation of a portfolio, familiarity with marketing tactics used by the body art industry, and knowledge of the international scene are all part of this.
