Program description

Our BA (Hons) Photography degree at UCA Farnham will help you push your photography horizons and create outstanding work if capturing a moment on camera is your passion but you want to experiment more and try out other ways.

With a long and rich history spanning more than 80 years, this course has built a strong reputation for exploring fresh perspectives on photography as a discipline. Thematic core modules will be taught to you, and they will contain research-led lectures, a variety of hands-on workshops, introductory critical and creative assignments, workshops, and cross-course collaborations. All of these are intended to let you experiment and create your own independent practice.

You'll have access to a variety of digital and analog facilities, and since Photography is part of an interdisciplinary group of courses with Fine Art and Digital Art, you'll have the chance to participate in cross-course elective units and collaborative opportunities, both of which will enhance your learning and allow you to design a program around your research interests.

Our highly regarded teaching staff brings with them strong research credentials and contacts to the business on a national and worldwide scale. Additionally, we have acknowledged recent student accomplishments such as 2021 alumni speaking at Photo London, getting selected for the Graduate Show at the Photographers' Gallery, and being included in the Graduate Issue of Photoworks.

As a graduate, you could pursue a career in photography or in one of the businesses related to it, such as editorial, advertising, fine art, documentary filmmaking, gallery/project management, etc.
