Program description

On our BSc (Hons) Urban Design and Planning degree, you will learn about the impact urban planners and designers have on society as well as the advanced skills necessary to become one.

You will study about spatial practices and the value that an urban designer can offer to projects and the larger community at the School of Architecture and Design at UCA Canterbury, where our programme is based. You'll utilize Canterbury and the surrounding landscape of Kent as a starting point for your work, conducting research, creating designs, and analyzing the effects that your plans and designs would have on it.

Utilize our comprehensive facilities on campus, which include areas for fabrication and testing, cutting-edge scanning and virtual reality (VR) technologies, and a variety of traditional craft-based workshops, to realize your creative concepts. You will be free to create your own specialties, such as sophisticated retrofit-based expertise, and you will create a highly distinctive sense of design identity and style.

You will be guided along the way by our team of academics and a wide range of business professionals, and collaborative opportunities with students from across the School of Architecture and Design will give you an enhanced experience where specialized learning is combined with fresh perspectives and methods to broaden your own horizons.

In order to ensure that you graduate prepared for the workforce, you will gain experience working with industry through actual project opportunities, masterclasses, and optionally a professional work placement if you choose the Professional Practice Year pathway.

You can enroll in an Integrated International Foundation Year, which was created especially to give international students English language and creative skills before they start their first year of study.
