Program description

On our BA (Hons) Film and Screen Studies degree program, you'll delve deeply into the historical, cultural, and social background of film and television, from Alfred Hitchcock to Pedro Almodóvar, from silent films to the present period.

You will investigate a wide range of creators and cinematic movements in your studies using sociological methodologies and in-depth textual research.

You'll graduate with in-depth knowledge and comprehension of cinema and television, making you the ideal candidate for a job in the field.

You can enroll in an Integrated International Foundation Year, which was created especially to give international students English language and creative skills before they start their first year of study.

As a part of this degree, you have the option of finishing a Professional Practice Year. You will have the chance to reach your full professional, academic, and personal potential as a result, giving you the tools you need to operate confidently and enthusiastically in creative environments. These abilities are highly recognized by employers, and a sizable percentage of placement students receive graduate-level employment offers or continue on to postgraduate study.

Requirements for applicants

If you do not have qualifications from the United Kingdom, we will accept equivalent qualifications from your native country for admittance into our programs.

In addition to academic credentials, some of our courses require a portfolio of previous work.

For our Bachelor's courses, we usually require that you have:

  • High school leaving certificate or equivalent.
  • A transcript showing successful completion of one year of a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university with CGPA 3.8.

Portfolio requirements

For these course, you must perform an individual piece as an audition. This piece can be up to two minutes long and can be one of the following: a brief modern text (play or screenplay); a short piece of Shakespeare; or an original work you have composed.
