Program description
Innovative creative directors are essential for international fashion and beauty firms to properly communicate their visual statements. You will acquire all the skills and information required to establish yourself in the industry with the help of our MA in Creative Direction for Fashion course.
This programme, which is taught at UCA Epsom, gives you the ideal study environment to hone your creative and strategic fashion direction abilities.
In order to obtain important information and examine contemporary difficulties within the fashion industry, you will collaborate directly with brand, trend, and creative directors. You will then provide solutions through cutting-edge concepts that push the envelope.
Your ability to think creatively and create visually will be combined to create a portfolio that is current, inclusive, and diversified.
You can choose the Integrated International Pre-Masters, a year-long preparatory programme of study to get you ready for your master's in the UK, improving your speaking and writing skills in English along with your specialty skills, research knowledge, and self-confidence.
Program structure
Term one
You will learn about the University and the technological facilities and workshops that are accessible to you. The first stage consists of a variety of lectures, seminars, and hands-on workshops where you'll begin to investigate the connection between theory and creative practise.
- Professional Practice
The purpose of this unit is to help you identify your practice's context and chart a clear course for your MA studies in creative direction for fashion. This unit operates concurrently with the Research & Critical Enquiry unit and is made possible by industry partnership (analysis and reflection of an existing campaign or fashion rebrand and transformation).
- Research & Critical Enquiry
The purpose of this unit is to provide you with information that will help you create your project through research, critical thinking, and an awareness of various cultural, social, economic, and industrial settings.
Term two
During term two, you start working on your MA project, analysing and testing the objectives of your proposal over an extended period of independent study.
- Creative Concept Development & Consolidation
Your creative concept will be designed and modified using the abilities, information, and critical perspectives you have gained via previous modules. The body of work will be appropriate for the intended market, target customer, and/or brand, and will unmistakably reflect creative vision in depth and breadth across a range of mediums, from book design to editorial to exhibition.
Term three
You'll put the knowledge you learn from your study to use in the third term of the course to produce a finished product.
- Final Project Resolution & Promotional Launch
A culmination of your MA research and the work you did in the prior modules. You will develop and present (on appropriate platforms) a "no holds barred," contemporary creative concept and marketing launch strategy that amply showcases your main abilities in the fields of art and design, visual communication and identification, and pertinent industry collaboration (as appropriate).
