Program description
On our MA in Screen Acting and Performance degree at UCA Farnham, you may develop and broaden your understanding of and abilities in acting and performing in front of the camera.
Although formal performance training is not required to enrol in this course, we are searching for creative individuals who are eager to test their limits.
You will explore various performance-related topics and how audiences interact with them with the help of knowledgeable faculty members like Dr. Sian Rees, Dr. Harry Whalley, and groundbreaking intimacy coordinator Pia Rickman. You will also learn about presenting, build your professional brand, improve your screen acting abilities, and complete a challenging final project.
You can choose the Integrated International Pre-Masters, a year-long preparatory programme of study to get you ready for your master's in the UK, improving your speaking and writing skills in English along with your specialty skills, research knowledge, and self-confidence.
Program structure
Term one
- Screen Acting
This course will put a strong emphasis on your abilities and provide you with plenty of hands-on practise to improve your screen technique, as well as an explanation of the intimacy coordinator's job.
- Digital Performer
You will learn about online performance and how to sell oneself in that sector in this class. With industry-relevant briefs and experiences, you will practise your creative response to the needs of the digital sector.
Term two
- Presenting
You will gain presentation abilities for online platforms, podcasts, and television in this unit. Industry experts will assist you in developing your online presence's self-assurance, and practise at live (streamed) events will help you hone your skill set.
- Critical Contexts
You will be forced to reconsider the content you create and consume as a result of the Critical Contexts unit. You will investigate the modern and past views of performances that are recorded and streamed. The relationship between various content types and storytelling will be discussed, and you'll get a critical understanding of the new online and screen environments that are currently available.
Term three
- Final Major Project & Professional Practice
In your final unit, you'll concentrate on a professional practise (such as acting for cinema, presenting for television or social media, or doing comedy for social media) in order to produce original material based on a research inquiry that will establish you as an authority in your field. As you think about your career choices and options as an industry professional, you will also start and fill out an online professional profile as part of this unit. Additionally, you'll get the chance to meet mentors who can assist you make the move from the classroom to the workplace.

Requirements for applicants
If you do not have qualifications from the United Kingdom, we will accept equivalent qualifications from your native country for admittance into our programs.
In addition to academic credentials, some of our courses require a portfolio of previous work.
For our Master's courses, we usually require that you have successful completion of your Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognised university.

Portfolio requirements
We'll need to examine your written or graphic portfolio for these courses in order to review it. Once you've applied, we'll send you an invitation to submit your portfolio via your applicant portal; more details will be given at that time. This can also be arranged for you if you would prefer to evaluate your work with the Academic Team in person while on campus.
