Numerous industries, including agriculture, food processing, medicine, and the industrial production of biomolecules, biofuels, and other chemicals, can benefit from the Industrial Plant and Microbial Biotechnology concentration of the Bachelor of Science in Applied Biotechnology. Graduates of this major and concentration are equipped for jobs in which multidisciplinary teams genetically modify microorganisms and plants to produce goods like vaccines, enzymes, and biofuels; create and oversee production processes for biotechnology products, and monitor the safety and quality of products in biotechnology manufacturing facilities.
