Program description

Both thesis-based and non-thesis Master of Science programs are available from the Department of Computer Science. If you want to finish a PhD degree and pursue a career in academia and research, the thesis-based path is the best option. If you wish to gain more advanced theoretical, practical, and programming abilities for careers in business or industry, the non-thesis option is perfect. Because of its robust research in the fields of algorithms, artificial intelligence, programming languages, visualization, security, systems, and parallel and high-performance computing, the department is ranked as the best of its size among publicly funded universities by the National Research Council.
