Program description

The course is delivered at London College of Communication (LCC).

This practical journalism course combines hands-on skills training with the academic study of media theory and context. In the second year, students choose a specialism in either Print and Online Journalism or Audio and Video Journalism. The final year involves producing the Artefact magazine and website, providing real-world publishing experience.

Teaching is delivered through a mix of lectures, seminars, and practical workshops in dedicated newsrooms and studios. The curriculum covers core journalism skills like research and interviewing, broadcast techniques, and the critical analysis of legal and ethical media issues. Students are encouraged to develop an authentic, individual voice and build a professional portfolio of original work.

Pathway-specific training includes multimedia storytelling and long-form features for Print/Online, and podcast production or advanced video journalism for Audio/Video. The course is enriched by field trips, guest speakers, and access to professional-grade facilities, preparing graduates for the contemporary media landscape.
