Program description
This experimental and interdisciplinary textiles course at London College of Fashion focuses on creating innovative textile surfaces, constructions, and structures through the fusion of traditional craft and new material and technological innovations. You will produce forward‑looking outcomes that demonstrate the future of fashion textiles, potentially involving new making technologies, disruptive processes, or novel material creations.
Supported by learning resources that provide a global perspective on materials and manufacturing, the course encourages you to rethink current industry practices through innovation, technology, and future‑focused thinking to address the challenges facing the global fashion textiles industry.
Program structure
Block 1: consists of 1 school specific 20 credit unit and 1 course specific 40 credit unit.

- Material and Process (40 credits)
Block 2: consists of 1 cross-college 20 credit unit and 1 course specific 40 credit unit.
- Collaboration and Technical Development (40 credits)
- Elective (20 credits)
Block 3 is the 60 credit Master’s Project unit.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in an elective unit as part of this course. This is an opportunity for students to collaborate with students from other courses within the college.

Requirements for applicants
Entry to this course is envisaged to be competitive: applicants are expected to achieve, or already have, the course entry requirements detailed below.
The standard entry requirements for this course are as follows:
- An Honours degree at 2.1 or above in a related discipline. Applicants with a degree in another subject may be considered, depending on the strength of the application;
- OR equivalent qualifications;
Applicants who do not meet these course entry requirements may still be considered in exceptional cases.
The course team will consider each application that demonstrates additional strengths and alternative evidence. This might, for example, be demonstrated by:
- Related academic or work experience
- The quality of the personal statement
- A strong academic or other professional reference
- OR a combination of these factors
Each application will be considered on its own merit but we cannot guarantee an offer in each case.
English Language Requirements
- IELTS level 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
