Program description

The MA Footwear course is situated within the Craft Programme in the School of Design Technology at London College of Fashion, alongside related programmes like MA Artefact and bespoke tailoring and accessory degrees. It closely aligns with MA Fashion Futures, offering collaborative opportunities and shared resources, and benefits from strong industry links and a research-focused approach.

As one of only two MA Footwear courses in the UK, it has developed a unique curriculum centred on conceptual and innovative approaches to footwear, broadly defined as any design for the lower extremities.

Program structure

Block 1:

  • Collaborative Challenge (20 Credits)
  • Critical Practice and Research (40 Credits)

Stage 2:

  • Research Proposal (20 Credits)
  • Actionism in Context (40 credits)

Block 3:

  • Masters Project (60 Credits)

  • 30,890 GBP per education*

Requirements for applicants

Entry to this course is highly competitive: applicants are expected to achieve, or already have, the course entry requirements detailed below.

  • An Honours degree at 2.1 or above in footwear design and/or production. Applicants with a degree in another subject may be considered, depending on the strength of the application;

OR

  • Equivalent qualifications; 

OR

  • Relevant and quantitative industrial experience for a minimum of three years.

English language requirements

  • The level required by the University for this course is IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill.
