Program description
The MA Journalism: Social Justice Journalism at London College of Communication is a practice-based, multi-platform course designed to train journalists focused on creating positive societal change. Guided by tutors with extensive professional experience from outlets like the BBC and Sky, students develop key practical skills to cover critical issues such as climate justice, gender and racial equality, and the refugee crisis. While specializing in a chosen pathway, students collaborate on the multi-platform "Artefact" brand, which includes a print magazine, website, and social media channels.
The program emphasizes hands-on learning, reflecting the contemporary environment of multiplatform journalism. Each student produces a substantial individual portfolio of journalism in their chosen medium, building a range of styles and genres. Ultimately, the course equips graduates with the skills, practical experience, and employability to succeed as journalists committed to social justice in the evolving media landscape.

Requirements for applicants
- In order to be considered, you would have achieved an Honours degree (preferably a 2:1),
- or equivalent professional qualifications with a minimum of three years relevant professional experience.
Applicants who do not meet these course entry requirements may still be considered in exceptional cases.
The course team will consider each application that demonstrates additional strengths and alternative evidence. This might, for example, be demonstrated by:
- Related academic or work experience
- The quality of the personal statement
- A strong academic or other professional reference
- OR a combination of these factors
English language requirements
- IELTS 7.0 (or equivalent) is required, with 6.0 in each of the four skills.
