Program description

You will study plants from molecular, cellular, and physiological perspectives in Plant Biology to understand plant development and reproduction, as well as genetic, genomic, and physiological studies to understand how plants interact with their environments. You will also research plant abundance, variety, and evolution using molecular and genetic methods.

Plant Biology majors apply botany, molecular sciences, and genetics to real-world problems like how plants adapt to climate change and how to produce healthier, more sustainable foods.

Plant Biology majors can launch a variety of careers. You may investigate and develop biofuels from plants, improve disease resistance, drought and salt tolerance, or find new species. The extended major opens up Honours in Botany and the MSc in Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics, and Biotechnology.
