Program description

In order to effectively address health challenges, students are urged to combine their biological knowledge with their awareness of Aboriginal ways of looking at health and disease.

Because of its emphasis on health, the major is part of the Bachelor of Science degree. The Medical School's Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing major stresses the need of making decisions, crafting policies, and practicing medicine based on evidence. Students enrolled in the major will have the rare chance to learn about Aboriginal knowledge and understandings alongside this focus, giving them a leg up when it comes to closing the gap in Aboriginal health through equity and the application of scientific findings in policy and practice.
