Program description
The fundamentals of immunology, such as allergic disorders, and microbiology, such as the ecology, physiology, and genetics of bacteria, are covered in this major's information. The medical field, public health, and other industrial fields (e.g., food production, environmental testing, and patent law) can all benefit from this information.
The core research capabilities of the field—virology, bacteriology, and immunology—are deeply ingrained in the Microbiology and Immunology major. In this state-of-the-art program, you will learn from the researchers themselves while engaging in weekly lab sessions and organized tutorials where you will put what you've learned into practice and build upon what you've learned theoretically.
You will learn the basics of microbiology, including how to isolate and characterize bacteria through culturing, how to identify germs using microscopy, and how to document your results. Biomedical and biotechnological applications are given top priority.
