Program description

Anyone interested in business or government should major in business law. This major also prepares students for law school.

This major emphasizes law and business and is appropriate for people interested in professional accounting, company management, international trade, and industrial relations. It will improve your teamwork, written and oral communication, analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.

Discover how the Australian legal system affects business and commerce. Contract, tort, company, agency, partnership, fiduciary obligations, taxation, banking, secured transactions, e-commerce, intellectual property, consumer protection, and international commercial law will be covered. You'll identify and analyze common commercial transaction legal issues. Learn how to rationally request, comprehend, and act on legal services and advice. As professional, business management, and public servant liability grows, businesses are increasingly seeking candidates with good business law backgrounds.

Price

  • Tuition fee — 40,200 AUD per year.

A standard full time enrolment of 48 points per year equals 1 EFTSL (1 EFTSL is the Equivalent Full Time Study Load). If you enrol in more or less than 48 credit points per year, your yearly annual fee may be different. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and are subject to increase, as outlined in the UWA Acceptance Contract.

Requirements for applicants

To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have

  • achieved an ATAR of at least 75, or equivalent as recognised by UWA or
  • an assured pathway offer or
  • achieved a score of at least 100 in UWA's experienced based entry assessment or
  • a place in a relevant UWA access program.

English competency

  • Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.
