Program description

The Fine Arts major is unique in Australia due to its structure and range of courses. After a first year of general education that covers the basics and helps you build a foundation of practical skills and academic knowledge, you can choose between three concentrations. The fields of cinema, art and biotechnologies, and art and ecology are the centers of this creative activity. As you go through your second and third years of studio-based practice, you'll hone your skills in one of these areas while supplementing your education with courses in art history and other electives that cater to your interests and enhance your creative work.

We help you develop your artistic abilities in both traditional and new forms within these state-of-the-art concentrations. Additionally, the Fine Arts major provides the chance to hone your skills in a variety of contexts, from the scientific lab to landscapes experiencing fast environmental change. This allows you to artistically express and discuss some of the most complex and difficult issues that our world is currently confronting.
