Program description

This extended major requires an Assured Pathway to the Doctor of Medicine, which students can only receive upon acceptance. Integrated Medical Sciences and Clinical Practice (IMSCP) covers almost every medical and health science field. After completing this course, you will know anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, haematology, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology, and public health. Students will gain research and communication skills needed for a healthcare job throughout the program. They will also research Aboriginal and migrant and refugee health in Australia.

Students on an Assured Pathway to the Doctor of Medicine can choose any major combination for the new IMSCP extended major. To earn medical school credit and a faster six-year program, they must complete the IMSCP extended major. Medical science students at UWA will not be allowed to count their studies toward a degree starting in 2020.

The IMSCP extended major allows eight broadening and optional units in the first two years of the Bachelor degree. These units allow students to pursue their interests in music, languages, humanities, social sciences, business, environmental science, life science, physics, and biomedical science. Students can also earn degrees abroad.
