Program description

Through industry-integrated learning, this major will equip you with the skills, methods, tools, and information you need to spearhead the development, deployment, and administration of safe computer systems that shield users and their data from online threats. Skills and knowledge in cybersecurity, a quickly growing area of IT, are becoming more and more in demand. Experts in cybersecurity create, construct, set up, and manage safe computer systems. They evaluate risks to ascertain the most effective way to lessen the possible impact of compromised systems and compute the trade-offs between cost and benefit while putting secure solutions in place. There are job openings in many different industry areas, and positions include web specialist, program or application developer, system administrator, user assistance technician, and project manager.

Price

  • Tuition fee — 49,200 AUD per year.

A standard full time enrolment of 48 points per year equals 1 EFTSL (1 EFTSL is the Equivalent Full Time Study Load). If you enrol in more or less than 48 credit points per year, your yearly annual fee may be different. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and are subject to increase, as outlined in the UWA Acceptance Contract.

Requirements for applicants

To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have

  • achieved an ATAR of at least 75, or equivalent as recognised by UWAor
  • an assured pathway offeror
  • achieved a score of at least 100 in UWA's experienced based entry assessmentor
  • a place in a relevant UWA access program.

Mathematics requirement

This major requires a certain level of Mathematics. If you do not meet this level, you may be able to take additional Mathematics units in your first year to satisfy this requirement.

WACE prerequisite: Mathematics Methods ATAR

English competency

  • Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.
