Program description
Which group would you like to serve as a health and fitness professional: professional athletes or regular people? A degree in Sport Science from our university will set you up for a prosperous future in the leisure and sports sectors. The education you receive will equip you with the background you need to succeed in fields like specialized fitness and athlete preparation, as well as sport management and delivery. Gain practical experience in the field while integrating classroom learning with real-world scenarios and collaborating with peers in the sport science practicum, which has won multiple awards. Both free placements in Western Australia and paid placements abroad are available to students.
Program structure
Sport Science is not an accredited major. Students who are interested in applying to be an accredited exercise scientist, should apply to transfer to the Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Sciences – Major in MJD-SEHDM Sport Science Exercise and Health . Students who transfer after completing more than 48 points of core units in Sport Science may take extra time to complete their studies.
Students who have completed Sport Science major and require additional units to meet the eligibility criteria for ESSA accreditation, may apply to enrol in the Bachelor of Science and Technology.

Students who have not achieved a scaled mark of at least 50 in Mathematics Applications ATAR or equivalent or higher are required to complete MATH1720:

Price
- Tuition fee — 46,300 AUD per year.
A standard full time enrolment of 48 points per year equals 1 EFTSL (1 EFTSL is the Equivalent Full Time Study Load). If you enrol in more or less than 48 credit points per year, your yearly annual fee may be different. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and are subject to increase, as outlined in the UWA Acceptance Contract.
Requirements for applicants
To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have
- achieved an ATAR of at least 75, or equivalent as recognised by UWA or
- an assured pathway offer or
- achieved a score of at least 100 in UWA's experienced based entry assessment or
- a place in a relevant UWA access program.
English competency
- Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.
