Program description

In our daily lives, biotechnology is essential. As the world's population grows over the next few decades, the use of plants, animals, and bacteria—enhanced by fields like genetics, genomics, and synthetic biology—gives rise to new methods for producing food, fiber, and biochemicals as well as new approaches to environmental protection and stewardship. In addition to studying genetics and molecular biology theory, you will get top-notch instruction in "next generation" practical methods like proteomics, metabolomics, genomics, and synthetic biology. Bioinformatics techniques will supplement these fundamental abilities.

By providing a comprehensive foundation in cutting-edge biotechnology and fusing it with entrepreneurial and commercialization skills, this hallmark program distinguishes us from other colleges. In addition to learning practical skills like genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, genetic engineering, synthetic biology tools like CRISPR, and basic and advanced bioinformatics, this entails improving the theory of genetics and molecular biology. Current streams include genetics and genomics, environmental biotechnology, biochemistry and molecular biology, commercialization, and the use of biotechnology in plant and animal breeding.
