Program description
This double master's degree, the only one in Australia, improves translation studies and business skills. Your skills will make you a multilingual professional with several domestic and international career opportunities.
The Master of Commerce and Master of Translation Studies program, taught by top business and translation scholars, offers a rare opportunity to improve your language skills in accounting, human resource management, economics, employment relations, finance, business information and logistics management, or marketing. Advanced and specialized translation education between English and one of eight languages is also available. Modern translators need technology, ethics, and commercial skills, which you will learn. You will also critically assess current translation studies theories and practices.
Course includes interpreting (spoken translation) instruction. You can choose coursework only or coursework and dissertation in the Master of Translation Studies program to pursue a PhD. Those with business or translation backgrounds can finish this course in two and a half years instead of three if they take the coursework option. With core units, electives, languages, and commerce specializations, you may tailor your degree to your interests and career aspirations.
Eight specializations—one for each language pair—include accounting, corporate information and logistics management, economics, employment relations, finance, human resource management, and marketing.
