Program description

The Master of Data Science program teaches you how to manage big data sets, comprehend and apply proper analytical approaches to change an organization's objectives, grasp the statistical and machine-learning underpinnings of data analytics, and assess and convey the efficacy of new technologies.

The course prepares you for a global career because data science is a global phenomenon. You will gain knowledge of contemporary data management and analysis technologies for software project management, internet-based applications, visualization, and data gathering and storage.

Additionally, high-performance computer skills will be taught.

To learn how to use data science skills across interdisciplinary sectors, you can study advanced computer and statistics units and select from a range of subjects.

Requirements for applicants

To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have

  • a bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA;
  • the equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 65 per cent;
  • completed ATAR Mathematics Methods, or equivalent, as recognised by UWA.

English competency

  • Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.
