Program description
The Digital and Social Media Specialization provides students with the chance to learn, explore, evaluate, and create media within the contemporary digital media environment. Students are acquainted with a process-oriented approach to media production, termed media design, which encompasses design thinking, design execution, and design deconstruction, and is essential to the media creation and consumption experience. All courses in this major are project-based. Your initiatives will manifest as a digital artifact — publicly accessible work on a social media platform. You will utilize Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or Twitch to develop a project of your creation on a theme of your selection. These projects start modestly at the onset of your degree, although you have the ability to engage with them across disciplines, trimesters, and even years. These initiatives aim to provide practical experience, frequently mirroring the responsibilities of a social media manager, content developer, copywriter, brand ambassador, digital marketer, entrepreneur, or small company proprietor.
