Program description

The Department of International Relations seeks to prepare students to analyse events, topics, and phenomena by examining a variety of scenarios ranging from economic, political, and social developments to the historical processes of diplomatic relations. Any analysis is carried out in accordance with the fundamental principles of political science, with the ability to comprehend and evaluate information based on an interdisciplinary approach. In today's world, international relations encompass the interactions and developments that occur between countries, as well as between various communities, nonprofit organisations, people, and supranational organisations (e.g.international and regional organizations, multi-national companies, and extra-national organizations). Students in the Department of International Relations examine the complex network of global ties and get the related skills and understanding of domestic and foreign affairs. They also study the conceptual framework and theoretical approaches to international affairs.

Graduates of the Department of International Relations may find employment in a variety of sectors, depending on their particular preferences, interests, and ambition. The majority of graduates find work in public and commercial firms, as well as enterprises with international links. Graduates serve as government officials in several sectors, primarily the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the public sector. As Turkey moves closer to EU membership, an increasing number of graduates are being hired to work on EU-related projects in both the public and private sectors. Graduates may also find employment with international and regional organisations, research institutions, the corporate sector, non-governmental organisations, and other government agencies. There are also prospects in commerce to create international ties and business links in marketing, sales, international consultancy, international banks, media and communication facilities.
