Program description
The agricultural value chain encompasses small producers, large farms, intermediary institutions, supply chains, and other connected enterprises at various levels and in varied forms. The participation of these institutions and organisations in the value chain, as well as the contributions of sector producers, generate a large number of job opportunities in food processing, distribution, and marketing of these agricultural products, thereby supporting economic growth in emerging markets. On the other side, these kind of advancements are also crucial in terms of addressing global issues such as hunger and food security.
Food safety, efficient use of natural resources, environmental issues, minimal waste, recycling, energy efficiency, and the circular economy all have an impact on the business environment and management; as a result, companies in the agri-business sector struggle to be successful and maintain profitability and existence in these competitive conditions. To be successful in the aforementioned environmental, economic, and social settings, it is vital to adapt to changing global competitive conditions, develop, and implement strategies to capitalise on global and local opportunities, and combat threats.
The realities of agriculture and food industries indicate the need for a global transformation by achieving a new managerial approach for the agri-business sector, in the presence of factors such as new technologies, new knowledge foundations, new sources of finance, managerial tools, and innovation.
Graduate programmes in agri-business and trade have been developed to teach and educate university graduates to fulfil the qualified staff requirements of the agricultural and food industries, which are also among the Council of Higher Education's priority areas. There are three options for the programme: Turkish-without thesis, English-with thesis, and English-without thesis. Managers and employees of corporate and governmental agricultural institutions and organisations, sector investors, municipalities, cooperatives, and all other stakeholders in the sector are eligible to participate in the programmes.
