Program description

Mechatronics engineering is an interdisciplinary degree that combines foundations of electrical and computer engineering with mechanical engineering.

Mechatronics engineers work in a variety of sectors, including automation and mechanical system control. Advanced manufacturing systems, robotics, autonomous driving, navigation, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), intelligent systems, remote diagnostic and telesurgery, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) and remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROV), machine vision, advanced sensing and instrumentation, and communications are examples of this.

Memorial's mechatronics engineering curriculum is unique in that it is a co-operative education programme, with students gaining up to two years of industrial experience before graduating.

As a graduate of mechatronics engineering, you will be prepared to contribute to the expanding high-tech sector and the future digital economy. Mechanisms, programming, electrical circuits, automatic control, sensors and instrumentation, and computer assisted engineering will all be covered. You will be able to select electives in areas of interest to you, such as autonomous robotics and vehicles, machine learning, image processing, and the Internet of Things.
