Program description
Memorial's School of Pharmacy conducts cutting-edge research in an intimate and personal setting. The School of Pharmacy offers graduate students the chance to perform original research in the areas of Drug Discovery and Delivery, Health Outcomes, and Teaching and Learning Scholarship. There are various research laboratories, including rooms dedicated to organic synthesis/natural products chemistry, a cell culture facility, pharmacology labs, and cutting-edge computer networks. All offices and research laboratories at the Health Sciences Centre are linked to the MUNet, a high-speed network that connects the campus to the rest of the globe.
Graduate supervisors at Memorial's School of Pharmacy are working on the following projects:
Health outcomes research evaluates the final outcomes of health care services, providing evidence for the efficacy of certain medical treatments or interventions that can be used to make better decisions and enhance health care. Areas of study:
- Policy analysis and health economics
- Health-care quality and cost-effectiveness

- Health services provided by pharmacists
- Adherence to medication
- Deprescribing
- Health outcomes and treatments

Requirements for applicants
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, or a recognized four-year undergraduate degree in physical, chemical or biological science, or equivalent (minimum GPA of ‘B+’ or ‘75%’ average)
Applicants who did not complete a baccalaureate or post-graduate degree at a recognized university where English is the primary language of instruction must normally complete either the:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and achieve a paper-based score of 580 (or higher), computer-based score of 237 (or higher), or internet-based score of 92-93 (or higher); or
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and achieve a score of 7 (or higher).
- Please note that other equivalent tests acceptable to Memorial University’s School of Graduate Studies will also be considered.
