Program description
We offer a PhD programme that requires ethnographic fieldwork.
Many of our former graduate students went on to work as professional anthropologists. Others have used anthropology to advance their professions in journalism, filmmaking, and public policy. The Department has placed a great emphasis on the use of film and video in our research efforts in recent decades. Several graduate students have created ethnographic videos to supplement their thesis research projects.
The PhD programme in Anthropology consists of courses, a comprehensive test, and a thesis. It usually takes four years of full-time education to finish.
